8/8/2022 - Important Information regarding Student Meals, 2022-2023

August 8, 2022

Dear Canton Public Schools parents and guardians:

I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying your summer.  There are some exciting updates to our Nutrition Services Department. First, The Connecticut State Department of Education has announced that the Free Meals for All Program has been extended.

Canton Schools will be offering Free meals through November 11, 2022.  One free breakfast and one free lunch will be offered to every student every school day.

Every student will receive free meals through November 11, 2022 but it is still necessary to collect accurate meal eligibility data.  This means families who may qualify for free or reduced meals based on household income must submit a Free and Reduced meal benefits application.  The application can be found on the district website under Nutrition Services

  • Families who may qualify for Free or Reduced benefits must submit an application.
  • Families who are receiving assistance through the SNAP or TFA programs do not need to submit an application.
  • Families who feel their income would not qualify for assistance do not need to submit an application.

We will also be updating our Point of Sale System.  I will be sending additional information regarding this very soon.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Nutrition Services Office at 860 673-2538 X10128 or you can reach me at mdreher@cantonschools.org.
