The Canton Preschool Lottery will open on February 9th for the 2026-2027 school year!
Connecticut law requires children to turn 5 years old on or before September 1st to automatically be eligible for kindergarten. The new age requirements will impact current preschool students as well as prospective preschool students.
For the 2026-2027 school year, prospective students will only be able to apply for PK3, PK4, and Kindergarten if their birth dates fall within the following ranges:
• PK3 (Pre kindergarten Age 3): Child turns 3 on or before September 1, 2026 (born on or between September 2, 2022, and September 1, 2023).
• PK4 (Pre kindergarten Age 4): Child turns 4 on or before September 1, 2026 (born on or between September 2, 2021, and September 1, 2022).
• If your child turns 5 on or before September 1, 2026 (born on or before September 1, 2021) then they are eligible for Kindergarten. Please find information on Kindergarten Registration Here.
The Preschool Lottery Process:
The Preschool Application is due to Cherry Brook by February 6, 2026
The printed Preschool Application must be returned to Cherry Brook Primary School or scanned and emailed to ssavino@cantonschools.org and amcmenemy@cantonschools.org
The Preschool Lottery will open on February 9, 2026
Lottery notification will take place on February 10, 2026 via our Preschool Teachers
Students chosen in the lottery attend Preschool Screening on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 9:00am at Cherry Brook Primary School
