Board MemberMichelle Kulak, BOE Member

mkulak@cantonschools.org

Michelle Kulak was raised in nearby Burlington and has been a resident of Canton since 2018. She and her husband chose to reside in Canton in part for the strong reputation of its school system. Since her daughter began kindergarten at Cherry Brook in 2023, she has been thoroughly impressed with the quality of education as well as the inspiring sense of community fostered at school.

Michelle began her education at Region 10 public schools before moving on to Miss Porter’s School. She received a BA in History from Skidmore College and an MA in Historic Landscape Studies from the University of York in York, England. Michelle has devoted the majority of her working career to various forms of customer service. She has experience working in school admissions as well as educating and leading groups and individuals in her current career as a running coach.

Michelle’s work experience has honed her ability to truly listen to people, identify what they’re asking for, and deliver a solution. Additionally, having attended both public and private schools, completed her Masters Degree abroad, and through her previous employment in a proprietary school, Michelle has much first-hand experience in different kinds of educational environments. She brings this background in service along with her first-hand experience in schools to benefit Canton as a member of the Board.

Michelle was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Canton Board of Education in September of 2024 and was elected to the Board in November 2024. She was named Chair of the Curriculum Committee in December 2024. She is honored to have been chosen for this responsibility and the opportunity to serve her community.

Outside of her roles as public servant and running coach, Michelle is an avid runner. She has enjoyed the sport for over 20 years and placed nationally in the USATF 2015 50 Mile Road Championships. She also serves as a docent for the Friends of Topsmead State Forest, giving seasonal tours of Edith Chase’s home on the property. She and her family enjoy hiking and traveling together and are always planning their next adventure.
